Circa1870, Front and 2nd Avenue Portland Oregon.
Gold rush made town’s people a fortune to whom did not threw everything and rushed out of the town.
Business boomed by selling provisions and timbers to much needed California. With the money they competed showed off each-other by built Iron-cast-facades lined on First and Second Avenues( the most of them had been demolished after WW2). This area was also known as red-light-district, housed women in the windows after dark and Shanghaiing dens under the surface.
